Light Bulb Moments

Throughout our lives we experience occasions when that proverbial ‘light bulb’ clicks on!  Those are the moments that can change our lives, and often do.  Most of us  experience them but few realise the real significance at the time, or are too busy to take notice and do nothing about them!

I’m not talking about those ideas that pop into our heads whilst we are in the bath, or lying in our beds - those are called ‘Eureka’ moments and although they are also important, they are not quite the same. ‘Light Bulb’ moments occur with the sudden realisation of an idea that has been going around and around in our head for weeks or even months or years! We really don’t notice them but are strangely aware that they exist.

These subconscious ideas often originate from something we have seen or heard at some stage. It may be something that shocked or disturbed us.  It may be a situation that we encountered that we felt could or should be changed.  It may be as simple as something that we wanted, but were unable to find.

Unknown questions are being formulated, asked and answered within our subconscious minds about strange ideas and  subjects that we do not fully understand, things that have been set before you, events that have happened, things yet to happen ....  and then all of a sudden ..

Wham!

.... a message or thought is received that makes everything so clear!  It is so clear that it is just like a light being turned on in a dark room exposing both the questions and the answers! This is what is called ...

Having a ‘Light Bulb’ Moment

I’m very lucky in that I’ve been able to do this for years ... but often I didn’t see the light for its brightness and just walked away! The secret is that when it happens you have to STOP and see it for what it is!

You think I’m mad don’t you? Well I may very well be mad, but it wasn’t until I’d a number of these that I started to question my thinking.  Long before they actually happened I’d dreamt up ... and documented

• eBay - Online Auctions - different name of course and some what different!
• Credit Card Sentinel - Credit Card Protection - Even used the same name
• Loyalty Cards - Reward people for shopping with you!
• Social Networking - OK not quite MySpace or Facebook but near

So the lesson I have learnt is this ... if you have a ‘light bulb’ moment, don’t just ignore it and switch it off, take notice, watch, listen, research and then take some ACTION! - You never know it might just change your life

Many years ago I was given some advice which has proved so right that I have repeated it here for everyone to benefit from. It was this:-

“When everyone else is turning RIGHT, turn LEFT.  When everyone else says STOP, keep GOING. When they tell you to SELL, then BUY.
Moral: If you want to be the same as everyone else, do what they are doing!”

A final piece of advice that I want to share with everyone is this.  Someone once said that there are ten people in this world who are negative about everything and generally a pain in the arse!  Whatever you do, you will always come across one of them whatever you are doing.

So the message is clear ... “Don’t be put off by what others say - just because they think they are right, does not mean you are wrong!”
